You can study a Master of Philosophy in a variety of areas such as healthcare, midwifery, nursing, leadership or dementia, as well asÌýradiography and medical imaging, nutrition, exercise, the social sciences, humanisation andÌýsocial work.

A Master of Philosophy (MPhil) can be a precursor to a PhD, giving you two years to delve into a subject that you are passionate about. Our staff within the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences have varied interests and specialisms, providing you with an opportunity to work with an expert in a field of research interest.

We collaborate with colleagues from other faculties to draw on their expertise when needed and we work closely with É«»¨ÌÃ's research institutes and centres, such as the Ageing & Dementia Research Centre, the Centre for Midwifery, Maternal and Perinatal Health,Ìý³Ù³ó±ð National Centre for Post Qualifying Social Work, theÌýNursing for Long Term Health Research CentreÌýand the Institute of Medical Imaging & Visualisation among others.ÌýWe strongly encourage collaboration across specialisms, and a PhDÌýprovidesÌýan opportunity to work with supervisors from various backgrounds to deliver truly impactful research.
