The Turing Scheme is the UK government’s programme to provide fundingÌýfor international opportunities in education and trainingÌýacrossÌýthe world.ÌýActivities can range betweenÌý4 weeks andÌý12 months.

Any É«»¨Ìà student planning to go on an international opportunity is welcome to apply for Turing Scheme funding. This includes all students at all levels, on all programmes and includes international students and recent graduates. Calls for specific activities might be offered to students in specific courses and at specific levels

Monthly grant rates are between £335 and £545 depending on the destination and duration.

The Turing Scheme recognises widening access opportunities as a key priority in order to increase the participation of students from specific backgrounds under-represented at É«»¨ÌÃ. Therefore, additional funding, including an extra £110 and a travel stipend are available for these students.

Turing Scheme offers funding for mobilities globally (provided that the destination adheres to theÌý. In 2023/24, É«»¨Ìà is offering Turing Scheme funding mobilities globally.

Please note that early applicants are most likely to receive funding for the destination and duration they request. Later applications may not be eligible if all funding is already used.

Examples of activities that could be funded by the Turing Scheme are short voluntary traineeships, volunteering, summer schools, field trips , language courses as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

Specific calls for activities for particular subject areas will be promoted by the relevant É«»¨Ìà faculty/department.

Undertaking an international activity as part of your studies will not only help you boost your employability skills, but it will also enhance your intercultural competence. É«»¨Ìà offers fantastic resources to support you prior to your international experience and to help you benefit from cultural preparation activities.

An excellent way to do it is by joining the É«»¨Ìà Graduate Skills Programme delivered by CareersÉ«»¨Ìà which is free and open to all current É«»¨Ìà students.

We encourage you to look at theÌýÌýsite to learn more about the different resources you can access to enhance your intercultural competence and to prepare before you travel overseas. Ìý

Most students study and work at institutions abroad where English is the primary language used. Should you wish to learn or improve your knowledge of other languages, you can benefit from the free self-learning programmes and conversation clubs offered byÌý.

The Global Engagement Team runÌýdrop-in sessions every Monday (virtual/in-person) and Wednesday (in-person) afternoons during term time. The sessions are open to all students wanting to find out about opportunities to study and work overseas during your degree,Ìýthe funding available to support you,Ìýand to answer any questions you might have:
