Approval of Minutes: The minutes for the February 20th meeting were reviewed. Joe Micke made a motion to approve the minutes as presented. Melinda Mott seconded the motion and they were approved unanimously. Treasurers Reports: There was no changes to the Treasurers report. Paula Smith made a motion to approve the report. Michelle Phay seconded the motion and the report was approved unanimously. Site Reports: Pahrump: no report Ely: no report Winnemucca: no report Battle Mountain: no report Elko: Paula Smith is now the Administrative Assistant for the English Fine Art and Humanities department. New Business: Melinda Mott asked what kind of summer training the classified staff would like to have this summer. Some suggestions that were made were automobile maintenance, home safety, excel overview, IAV training and google documents. Those suggestions would be relayed to Janie Moore. The Council then discussed the Outstanding Classified Employee nominations this year. It was decided that nominations would be accepted April 14-18th. Election would be held from April 21-25th. It was also suggested that a list of all classified staff be sent out along with the information email. Alex reported that the turn out for the discussion on tuition fees was larger than they expected. Many of the students participated in the discussion and he thought it was a great success. Tom reported to the council that the merit pay increases for faculty was approved unanimously. Tom reported they will make changes to the student grade appeal process. Students can consult with the Vice President of Student Services on the policy and procedures to initiate an appeal. Dr. Curtis reported that we now have added new service areas. He stated that these areas will mostly be distance education. He also reported that the classes being offered in these new areas will mostly be general education, preferably ones that arent lab intensive. Old Business: The Council discussed the upcoming duck race. Dianna Byers presented the poster for the duck race for the Councils approval. The poster was approved unanimously. Joe Micke said that the Battle Born Veterans Club would be willing to help in any way with the race. The Council discussed some of the details about the race but it was decided that any decision would have to wait until the weather gets warmer and the stream was running again.
